Used Postage Stamps

Thank you so much to everyone who has been saving the stamps in aid of the East Lancs hospice.  We are still collecting them, so thanks again in anticipation, but please remember to leave a frame of at least two centimetres from the envelope.  The collection box is still to be found on the foyer table.

Madeleine

The Thursday Ladies

The Thursday Ladies will meet next Thursday, 27th March at 2.00pm, in the small meeting room.  Our speaker will be Mr Stephen Colling who will give an interactive talk entitled, “Grandma saw it happen.”

Mid-week Lenten services at Rishton

There will be two mid-week Lenten services this Lent, both at 7. 30pm in the Church Meeting Room; the first is on Thursday, 27th March and the second on Wednesday, 9th April. The services will include a study of two bible passages: Isaiah 58 (27th March) and Revelation 5 (9th April). It will be helpful if you could read these passages in advance. The Maundy Thursday Holy Communion service is on Thursday, 17th April at 7.30pm.  These are all circuit services and all are welcome. Rev. Mark

Closing date for notices

AND FINALLY  from ('Ornithological Obfuscations')  Yesterday I put the last of my pastry on our bird table as a treat for a couple of visiting  pigeons who soon ate the lot. I smiled quietly to myself because I realised that I'd just filled two birds with one scone.

Prayer of thankfulness for 3rd Sunday in Lent

In a world beset with conflict, you are the enduring peace, a heart of love that beats in the souls of all who confess your name. God of love, we bring our grateful thanks.  In a world beset with doubt, you are waiting to be found, the living water that refreshes all who ask the question ‘How?’ God of love. We bring our grateful thanks.  In a world beset with sin, you are mercy and grace that is freely offered to all who hold their hands out to receive. God of love. We bring our grateful thanks.
