DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE CAROL?
We are holding another "Christmas celebration service with the band" on Sunday 15th December at 2.00pm, which will be followed by tea/coffee and cakes. We would like to base the service on favourite carols, but we need your response as soon as possible.
Please write your name and details of the carol you have chosen on a paper, and add a contact number if possible, in case there is a query regarding a specific tune or anything else. If you have a special reason for preferring this carol, could you give a very brief explanation, otherwise, if you just like it, then that is as good a reason as any other!
Then please give your paper to any steward. The band would be very grateful to have the details as soon as possible, so that a decision regarding the order of service can be made.
Thank you, Madeleine
Postage stamps.
Don't forget that we are still collecting used stamps for charity. We only need the adhesive type, such as the British ones carrying the king or queen's face, or the equivalent ones from other countries. Also, please leave a generous surround of paper when cutting it off the envelope, or it cannot be used. You can still leave them in the box on the foyer table. Thank you Madeleine

Our film is….. Notting Hill
Notting Hill is a 1999 romantic comedy film directed by Roger Michell. The screenplay was written by Richard Curtis, and the film was produced by Duncan Kenworthy. It stars Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant, with Rhys Ifans, Emma Chambers, Tim McInnerny, Gina McKee, and Hugh Bonneville in supporting roles. BLUE CHRISTMAS:
A Service of Remembrance and Hope
AT Gt Harwood
TRINITY URC & METHODIST CHURCH,
King Street, Great Harwood, BB6 7JN
Saturday 21st December 4pm
Christmas time is a difficult time for those whose hearts are hurting.
A Blue Christmas service is especially for those who find the festivity and celebration of this time of the year difficult to cope with.
It is an ‘alternative’ Christmas service- a quiet, reflective service for those who are carrying pain or loss during this season of celebration but seeking strength from the central promise of Christmas, that in Christ Jesus, God is with Us.
If you would like a loved one to be remembered by name during the service, please contact Revd. Mark by 7pm on Tuesday 19th December on:
mark.jason@methodist.org.uk or 07305 805930
Preacher 24th November
The preacher on Sunday 24th November at 10:30 will be: Rev Dr Mark Jason. Steward: Margaret Brankin.
The service will include Holy Communion.
And Finally
When I said to my GP this morning, "What's causing the red blotches on my skin? " He said, " Come back next week, I don't want to make any rash decisions today! " Alan
Prayer as we come to the end of the Church year
Joyful, loving God, let the winds of your Spirit blow through our lives as we prepare for a new year, a new opportunity to serve you with our whole hearts. While the world is full of dark and broken places, remind us that we have not always failed. We have shared moments of joy and transformation. We have sometimes touched the heart of another with compassion and love. We have returned to you in gratitude for all of our blessings and asking forgiveness for all the ways we have contributed to the broken places. You continue to claim us as your own beloved children and we are thankful. May the joy of this knowledge enter us more deeply, enabling us to love our neighbours and ourselves. Hear our prayers in Jesus’ name. Amen.
